National Employee Appreciation Day: East Coast Ski Resort Shows Appreciation to Staff

happy employee appreciation day-650

On this National Employee Appreciation Day, the East Coast Ski Resort in Vermont, Killington Resort, is paying tribute to its dedicated employees.
From waitresses to snowmakers, the resort identified itself in a video broadcast today.

This is the crew that makes resort skiing possible, folks. If you see them on the hill, be sure to give them a friendly fist bump or a short “thank you” to let them know how much you care. To a great extent.

The Business Standard reports that National Employee Appreciation Day has been around since 1995, perhaps starting in reaction to another work-related holiday called National Boss Day. I had never heard of it before, but a short Google search made it seem very informal.
Keeping the season going and blowing snow is a top priority for Killington’s crew, who are also bosses.

“Our snowmaking team is taking advantage of cold temps to resurface terrain after late February’s weather rollercoaster ride,” its snow reporter wrote this morning, announcing the operation. “We will continue to make snow on Caper, Lower Bunny Buster, Lower Chute, and sections of Lower Great Northern down to the Ramshead base area.”

There are a total of 61 miles of skiable terrain, with 108 of the resort’s 115 routes currently accessible. This represents around 50% of the skiable area at the resort.
