Garrison Brown, Son of ‘Sister Wives’ Stars Janelle and Kody Brown, Dies at 25
Garrison Brown, who was the son of Janelle and Kody Brown, who were both stars on “Sister Wives,” passed away on Tuesday at his home in Flagstaff, Arizona. He was 25 years old.
The passing of our beloved son, Robert Garrison Brown, has left both Kody and I in a state of profound grief. “He was a shining example for everyone who had the privilege of knowing him,” Brown captioned a post on Instagram on Tuesday. It is difficult for us to take a breath since the void that his passing will leave in our lives is so enormous. You are kindly requested to respect our right to privacy and to join us in paying tribute to his memory.
As stated in a statement that was provided to Variety by the Flagstaff Police Department, Garrison passed away “as a result of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
Since the time it was first shown on the TLC network in 2010, Garrison has been a regular participant in the popular reality show. Brown was still a child when the show was first broadcast on television. His father leads a polygamous lifestyle in Utah, where Kody has more than one wife, and the series chronicles this lifestyle. Before they divorced a year ago, Janelle and Kody were married for a period.

When Garrison reached the age of majority, he expressed an interest in joining the military and serving his country. Although Garrison had the intention of joining the Army, he ultimately decided to join the National Guard instead. After the epidemic, he eventually moved out of his parents’ house and into his own place.
Garrison Brown revealed that he had taken in a new feline friend in the days leading up to his death.
With the caption “Newest addition to my home, Ms. Buttons,” he posted an Instagram photo of himself cradling a medium-haired black cat on February 28. “She’s 9 years old and was on the line for euthanasia but my savior complex couldn’t suffice.”
In a statement, a spokeswoman for TLC said, “We are devastated to hear of the tragic loss of Garrison Brown.” TLC released a statement. The Brown family is in our thoughts and prayers during this trying time. Please accept our sincere condolences and our deepest sympathies.
Madison, Logan, Garrison, Gabriel, Hunter, and Savanah were the products of Janelle and Kody’s spiritual marriage, which took place in 1993. The couple also had six children together. Janelle made the announcement that she and Kody had ended their relationship in December 2022.
Throughout the years, Kody’s relationship with his children has become strained. This was something that Janelle later addressed in a confessional interview, when she voiced her regret for the difficult relationship that her children had with their father.
The mental health of my sons has been a source of concern for me. All of Gabriel’s feelings are intensely and profoundly felt. “But he’s also the kid who doesn’t say anything,” she added, adding that Garrison “just seems angry or sadder, like, he’s not as happy-go-lucky as he used to be.” Garrison is the kid who doesn’t say anything anymore.
In a later acknowledgment that coincided with the airing of an episode in May 2023, Kody acknowledged the rift that had grown between him and his children. Kody emphasized his hope that in “time” they will be able to “just get over this.”
I believe and hope that, in due time, we will be able to move on from this situation and that we will feel secure when we are back in each other’s company. At this point in time, there is not really a door that is open because of Gabe and Garrison. There is no willingness on their part to interact with me,” he disclosed.
